E-Commerce Procurement Excitement

SDSU's Business Services took a lead role in the CSU system by launching our e-commerce procurement site http://ecom.sdsu.edu . The  technologically innovative self sustaining business has teamed with Intelisys Electronic Commerce to implement a web site that will allow the campus to securely complete procurement transactions over the Internet.

E-commerce is the revolutionary new way organizations are utilizing Internet technology to streamline the procurement process. Eliminating paper based ordering, reducing processing costs, and increasing control are a few end user advantages of this cutting edge technology.

The Intelisys Site serves as an electronic shopping cart. From desktops, end-users can get current pricing and availability information, and order products direct from our strategic partners' electronic catalogs. For example, end-users can shop the Office Depot catalog to purchase paper clips and staplers. Additionally, transactions generated in Intelisys will be pushed to integrate with Oracle Financials.

Departments will also benefit from detailed expenditure information and better control of purchases through user profiles. Customized end user profiles, maintained in the Intelisys Software, provide for spending limits, purchasing approvals and delivery locations. SSL technology will insure safe and accurate e-commerce procurement.
